The Genji Monogarati or 'Genji Tale' is a major work from the 11th Century Japanese literature attributed to Murasaki Shibuku. The Genji is the son of the Emperor and as he cannot inherit the throne he originate a new imperial branch.

The 'Genji Tale' is said to reflect a true story from the Heian period. The story of a beautiful imperial prince, skilled poet and very seductive and praised from the women.
