Bamboo Jug

Bamboo jug with stem beak and handles in bamboo stick. The lid is curved and sculpted from the same piece of wood.

Bamboo’s esthetic, elegance and great sturdiness explain its popularity in Japan. Many everyday items and building components are made from bamboo (take), like blinds, fences, ladles, or as part of a ceremony, like tea ceremony (chanoyu). Bamboos are a symbol of purity, because of the rectitude of their stalk.
