Bronze Snail


Bronze okimono with light brown patina (two colors) representing a snail out of its shell.

Symbol of eternity and fertility, the snail was considered in ancient Japan as the god of water. The Japanese believed that the deity dwelt in a pond in the form of a gigantic snail.
