HINTHA DUCK OPIUM WEIGHTS – BURMA, 19th

Three bronze opium weights in the shape of a mythical duck or goose (hamsa, hintha or hantha).

The animal is the mount (vâhana) of the Hindu creator god, Brahmâ. Representing the soul or being, it is present in Indian and Southeast Asian culture as a symbol and decorative element.

Medium: height 1.57 in (4.3 cm) – width: 0.79 in (2.9 cm) – depth 0.79 in (2.8 cm)

Small: height 0.79 in (2 cm) – width 0.75 in (1.9 cm) – depth 0.79 in (2 cm)
