CARVED WOOD PEDESTABLE TABLE LIBERTY – MEIJI, 1900

Carved wood pedestable table with circular scolled top decorated with stylized peonies. The base is composed of three curved legs with foliate scrolls and a spacer decoration with peonies.
This type of table was commissioned by the London store Liberty & Co. and carved-handed in Japan. The company imported products from the Middle East and the Orient following Art & Craft and Art Nouveau styles of the late 19thcentury.
