Netsuke of type manjû in ivory presenting a gold, bronze and blue lacquered decoration of a vegetable interlacing. The decoration is treated according to the shibayama technique which is characterized by the inlaying of various materials such as coral, mother-of-pearl, ivory, tortoiseshell, etc. Here, it is inlaid with lacquer of various colors.
This inlaying process takes its name from its inventor, then was taken over by his family who perpetuated the tradition.
