PAULOWNIA JUBAKO BOX – 1848

Jûbako picnic box made of paulownia wood and shaped like a paulownia flower. It is composed of three compartments with the interior in red lacquer.
Paulownia (kiri) is considered as a symbol of nobility, honor and longevity. Since the Edo era, there has been a tradition that paulownia is planted at the birth of a daughter to be used later as a material for making items that will be part of her dowry. Its wood is ideal for chests and kimono boxes, which are often key elements of a bride’s because its wood is light, durable and long-lasting resistant.
